Try Your Hand at Art!

For JC Fridays, City Swipes Gallery invites guests into its Erie Street studio and gallery for an interactive evening exploring one of art’s most fascinating—and challenging—subjects: the human hand.

Artists Kelly Heaton and Carri Degenhardt will offer instruction and demonstrations showing dramatically different approaches to creating the hand, from carefully observed hyperrealism to loose, expressive mark-making. Guests can experiment with different styles and materials, including graphite, ink, pastel, paint and more, and discover an approach that feels uniquely their own.

The evening is designed for everyone, from experienced artists to people who simply want to pick up a pencil or brush and try something new. Guests can create at their own pace, watch the artists work, explore different techniques, and enjoy the creative atmosphere of a working Jersey City art studio.

Visitors are also invited to explore the gallery and view the original artwork on display, making the evening part art experience, part gallery night, and part creative social gathering.

All art materials and supplies are provided, so guests only need to show up ready to create. Complimentary sangria will be served to guests 21 and over.
