Eonta Space's late summer show is Deja Vu which celebrates the work of artist we have shown in the gallery before.
Showing the work of over 40 artists (list still in formation) ‘Deja Vu’ offers our exhibitors the opportunity to see their work at Eonta Space again. The concept is loosely based on the Royal Academy Summer shows in Burlington House, Piccadilly in London. In the early days of the Academy there were vernissage (trans. varnishing) days where painters would come and varnish their work prior to the show opening. In a similar way we will have two days when artists are invited to bring their work to the gallery and hang it, space permitting, where they wish.
What better way to check in with the multiplicity of talent we have shown? We are also taking the work sight unseen, so the artists get to decide what they wish to show. It somehow seems obvious, yet pertinent, to say that artists are a bellwether for how the world is changing and in this social-media-charged modern age we are over-exposed to aggressively popular concepts of good, bad and ugly. Our Academy-style late summer show will be a gentle step back, a rumination or memory check for where we have been and where we have every intention of going. Art is our only reality.
