Revisiting the Great American Road Trip with Project Greenville

"On the Road Again, MA-NY" by Jim Legge

June 3, 4:00pm-7:00pm

128 Winfield Avenue

Jersey City, NJ

(between Old Bergen Road & Ocean Avenue)

This year marks a very personal anniversary of mine, the 20 (yes, 20!!) year anniversary of a road trip I took--mostly alone--when I was 23 years old...an awesome experience of personal freedom, hands-on and one-on-one education about our nation's history, politics and people and still--without contest--one of the best things I've ever done.

Artwork by Pam Cooper

There are little reminders of that trip all over my home, and my heart, which inspired me to invite you all to share and reminisce with me; and celebrate the All-American Road Trip together! In an unusual move I will be sharing some of my photos and souvenirs from that long-ago road trip and have invited local artists to add their favorite photos, drawings, paintings and writing from their own adventures, or even fantasies, in the US :)

"Stockbridge Swamp, MA" by Jim Legge

In an effort to show off the diversity of the country, and also the diversity of how it inspires, these will be added to a community collage map...which guests are welcome to add their own prints, postcards and mementos to on the day(s) of the exhibit!

So far our participants include--besides myself, your Project Greenville host(ess) Elizabeth Deegan--Christine, Pam Cooper, Donchellee Fulwood, Danielle Haskins and Jim Legge...many more to come so please check in with our social media sources regularly for updates or sign up for our emails to learn about each new participant! We look forward to seeing you there...
