The nine artists in this exhibition were selected from Gunj (Echo), a memorial on-line exhibition by the Mithila Artist Association in Bihar, India commemorating the dowry death of Gunjeshwari Kumari, a young artist and graduate of the former Mithila Art Institute in Madhubani, Bihar.


What distinguishes Clear Voices from India is that the art was chosen on the basis of both image and word. The artists were asked to write about their work, and their words, whether poetry or prose, are framed and displayed prominently next to their art. The combination makes an evocative, emotional impact.
