Surati for Performing Arts presents “Kick-off Spring with free workshops and Open Mic” on March 6, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 PM. This family-friendly event welcomes the new season with movement, music, and community, celebrating spring as a time of renewal, fresh energy, and new beginnings through the performing arts.


The evening begins with a welcoming studio tour and a series of fun, beginner-friendly dance and music workshops designed for both kids and adults. Workshops run in rotating 20-minute segments, allowing guests to drop in and explore different styles. The event concludes with an open mic portion, where community members can share music, spoken word, or short performances in a supportive space.


Timeline:

5 pm to 5:15 pm: Studio Open Tour

5:15 to 5:35: Introduction to Indian Classical dance for beginners (all ages welcome)

5:40 to 6 pm: Folk and Bollywood dance for beginners (all ages)

6 pm to 6:20 pm: Try out Bharatnatyam - Indian classical dance (adults)

6:20 pm to 6:40 pm: Bollywood and Folk for adults

6:45 pm to 7:25 pm: Open mic (bring your singing voices, poetry, spoken word - the mic is yours)

7:30 pm to 8 pm: After the open mic, participants are welcome to stay briefly for community questions, networking, and a meetup, learn about Surati’s upcoming programs, and connect with teaching artists.


Surati for Performing Arts is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization.
