Dream is an immersive listening and visual installation exploring the quiet inner lives of Black women who have learned to survive more than they were ever taught to feel. The experience blends everyday Brooklyn and Jersey City imagery with surreal, dreamlike visual scenes and original music to invite visitors into a space of softness, reflection, and emotional release.
Through sound, projected film, spoken monologue, and physical staging, Dream asks a simple but radical question: Can we fall in love with life again? Guests move through a sequence of environments that mirror the routines of daily responsibility — making coffee, commuting, caretaking — before entering a layered dream state where imagination, memory, and desire reawaken. At its core, Dream is about reclaiming inner joy. It honors the generations raised on strength, endurance, and self-sacrifice, while offering a moment to pause and reconnect with the self beneath the armor. The installation invites the community not just to watch or listen, but to feel, remember, and imagine new possibilities for softness, creativity, and personal freedom.
